Forecast Dinner was celebrated at Restaurant Sunn

CFA Society Finland Forecast Dinner 2024 was held at Restaurant Sunn in Helsinki on the evening of 29th November. Around 45 people attended this wonderful evening with a presentation and traditional forecast results as well as awards. Our board member Juhani Häyrinen, CFA performed as the evening host.

As speaker of the event, we welcomed Jean Maunoury, deputy CEO and CIO Research & Investment at iM Global Partner. Mr. Maunoury spoke on the active investment management theme and what the future might hold for the active investment managers compared to the past volatile years. It has been increasingly difficult to outperform the benchmarks in the past years and passive investing has gained popularity. But there is a lot of evidence why active investing might be still a valid choice going forward. After the interesting keynote followed a lively Q&A session with the audience. Mr. Maunoury’s presentation was much thanked and provided food for thought for all the attendees.

After dinner followed Juhani’s presentation on the forecasting results for 2023 with an entertaining and suspenseful countdown to the winner. We are happy to announce that this year Tuomo Urrila, CFA, was crowned as the Forecaster of the year. Many congratulations! At Forecast Dinner we also award the Volunteer of the Year, a Society member who has been extra active, this time the award going to Oskari Jaakkola, CFA. Thank you and congratulations to Oskari as well!

We want to thank all our members attending, Forecast Dinner is always a top night in the Society calendar and this time was no different. See you next time!
