Commodities topic drew in members at a March breakfast event

CFA Society Finland held a highly topical breakfast event “Real Assets in Focus: Market Trends in Precious Metals and Oil” on 26th March at Hotel U14 in Helsinki. We were grateful to welcome Lorenzo Portelli, Head of Cross Asset Strategy, Amundi Investment Institute, as our keynote speaker. In his presentation, Mr. Portelli explored short to medium term trends and valuation dynamics across oil and natural gas markets, and critical minerals such as gold and copper, during this period of global uncertainty.

Oil markets remain shaped by heightened geopolitical risks and uneven global demand recovery. Natural gas markets face even more acute supply challenges than oil, reflecting tighter supply conditions and regional dependencies, particularly in Europe.

After the keynote we enjoyed a panel discussion joined by Jani Adolfsson-Tallqvist, Development Manager at Finnish Minerals Group Oy. The discussion concentrated especially on the European markets, production and supply challenges of key minerals, and potential short- and long-term solutions. Questions from the audience provided valuable added perspectives to the topics, both from a global and Finnish perspective.

We want to extend big thanks to Mr. Portelli and Mr. Adolfsson-Tallqvist for visiting our Society. Many thanks to Amundi Finland’s Tiina Tuominen, Senior Sales, Institutions and Corporates, and Mikko Miettinen, Senior Institutional Sales, Head of Amundi Finland, for cooperation on the event. Thank you to CFA Society Finland board member Ronny Högström, CFA, for hosting. Thank you also to all attendees for an engaging morning, we look forward to continuing on this important topic in near future.
